WHY CARDIO IS GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
Believe it or not I hated doing cardio, specially running, however, cardiovascular training played an important role in my life during the pandemic last year. After being locked down inside my house like everyone else for few months, I started feeling high levels of depression and anxiety, that was when my biking and running journey started. Incorporating cardiovascular training on my daily activities not only improved my mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood, it also also increased my self-esteem and cognitive function and it made me realize that I didn't' like doing cardio because I wasn't good at it, lol.
When you exercise and run, endorphins and serotonin are released in your body, these are chemicals in the brain that improve mood. So this year I decided to take my cardiovascular to the next level setting a new goal for myself, this year I would run a half marathon and today I am happy to share with you that I have completed it and I can't wait to plan the next one.
No matter what you want to achieve in your fitness, personal or professional life, by setting SMART goals and creating a plan with the necessary steps to reach them, and along with your discipline and consistency you can drive amazing results, do things you wouldn't think you could do, go to places you wouldn't know you could go.
