THE BENEFITS OF WALKING

When was the last time that you enjoyed a nice walk?

With the change of the season from Summer to Fall, now is a great time to enjoy the benefits of a good walk around the city.

If you are not a big fan of high intensity cardio, walking is a great choice to help you burn calories and to energize your body and mind. Just take in consideration that the calorie burn will depend on your walking speed, distance covered and the type or surface that you walk (flat, incline, etc).

Walking for at least 30 minutes a day will help you also to reduce the risk for coronary heart disease and lower your blood sugar. Walking is a low-impact exercise that helps to lubricate and strengthen the muscles that support the joints. It can be also used as a recovery day after a day of high intensity workout.

Walking helps to boost your energy and it can improve your mood. It helps to clear your head, reducing anxiety and depression. It is also a great opportunity to listen to your favorite audiobook, podcast and walking meditations.
